Prayagraj

Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad) stands at the confluence of the Ganga and the Yamuna – the Triveni Sangam, where tradition also places the mythical Saraswati. It hosts the Kumbh Mela, one of the largest gatherings of people on Earth, and the annual Magh Mela.

The city was a centre of the freedom movement: Anand Bhawan, the Nehru family home, is now a museum. It is also known for its university and as the seat of the Allahabad High Court.
