Editorial Policy
Our standards for accuracy, sourcing, corrections and AI assistance.
Last updated 10 October 2026
Sources
We prefer primary and official sources: census and statistical agencies, election commissions, postal departments, government portals, UNESCO and similar authorities. Every factual page lists its sources, and statistics include their reference year.
Verification labels
- Verified / Official source – checked against the cited official source.
- Reported – from a reputable secondary source or a standard reference figure awaiting re-check.
- Estimate – a projection or approximate value.
- Pending verification – published structure that an editor still has to confirm.
What we will not publish
We do not invent statistics, official symbols, election results, contact details, opening hours, prices or coordinates. If information is not available we say so.
Use of AI tools
Editors may use AI tools to prepare outlines or first drafts. Such drafts are never published automatically: a human editor checks every claim against sources, rewrites the text and remains responsible for the result.
Corrections
If you spot an error, please contact us with a source. We review all correction requests and update the “last updated” date when we change a page.
