Popular cultural association (not official) Pending verification

The mango is often cited as India's national fruit. StateIcon lists it as a popular association because we have not located a formal government notification designating it.

The mango (Mangifera indica) is often called the national fruit of India, and few fruits are as loved: India grows more mangoes than any other country, with famous varieties such as Alphonso, Dasheri, Langra, Kesar and Banganapalli.

However, StateIcon has not found a formal government notification declaring the mango a national symbol, so we list it as a popular association rather than an official one. If an official source is published, this page will be updated.

This symbol is listed as “Popular cultural association (not official)”. StateIcon only labels symbols as officially designated when an official notification or government source is cited.
